Milkica Ponjavić has graduated from Kosta Manojlović High School in the class of Professor Boško Radojković, the founder and manager of the Guitar Art Festival in Belgrade. She soon received her Bachelor Degree from the college of Arts in Niš with professor Vesna Petković, completing the studies with the highest marks.
During her studies, she won many significant awards at national and international competitions, performing as a solo artist and as a member of the chamber ensembles as well, across Serbia (Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Valjevo) and Montnegro (Podgorica, Herceg Novi, Kotor, Tivat). She was a member of the Music Club Energoprojekt Culture, permanently performing with some of the most prominent musicians across the Balkans. Appearing in distinguished concert halls including Kolarac Concert Hall, Belgrade City Council Hall, Belgrade Philharmonic, SKC Hall, National Museum, Madlenianum Opera & Theatre, and many more. As a most significant solo performer, she picks the Grand Opening of 20th International Choir Ceremonies in 2004, where she played at Niš Amphitheatre with Niš Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Prof. Dr. Milena Injac. The oratorium called Na Raskršću was premierely performed at the time by Niš Symphonic Orchestra, National Television and Radio of Serbia Choir and by a few narrators and soloists. She recorded for National Television and Radio of Serbia, Studio B, Vujić Valjevo, TV VA, TV-5, Belleamie, NTV Niš, Kopernikus etc. After the graduation, she toured across the USA performing mainly in California and Florida.
During her regular studies, Ponjavić attended a huge number of masterclasses of the world’s most famous guitar players such as Manuel Barrueco, Roland Dyens, David Russel, Gerardo Nunez.
She has a rich pedagogical experience, which started in 2002, when she became a guitar professor. Since then, her students had won more than 200 awards at National and International competitions. They had also performed at many musical events across Europe, while studying in the class of Milkica Ponjavić. Her students successfully continue their careers, attending the most prestigious Music Academies and having concert tours across the globe after winning some of the most prominent guitar festivals. Milkica has been awarded many times for contributions in the development of a classical guitar due to the pedagogical results she achieved in previous decades.
During her working experience, she has been an active member of the juries at the most significant National and International guitar festivals (Guitar Art Festival, Guitar Open Festival, Sarajevo International Guitar Festival, Naissus Guitar Festival, Akademician Marin Goleminov, LE Guitar Festival, VArtetc). She is a organizer and lecturer of the Winter Guitar Masterclass, and one of the organizers of Guitar Art Festival in Belgrade too.
Since 2006, she has been a professor of guitar and chamber music at the music school Dr Vojislav Vučković in Belgrade, while being a member of the School Committee and a leader of the Professional Guitar Council.
